Why

Why there is a free edition

The one-paragraph version

blueOpenHealthcare is the free edition of blueHealthcare, priced by country using the World Bank's own published income classification rather than a bespoke list: free automatically for low- and lower-middle-income countries, free case by case for upper-middle-income countries, and licensed commercially everywhere else. It exists for two reasons, not one — so that health systems that cannot pay for software can still run a signed, verifiable clinical record, and because it is a channel to developers and clinicians who already move between two health systems and can teach us what their country's coding, privacy law and language actually require. The licence and contribution terms are being decided by counsel; code contributions open when they are published. Until it is, this is a place to read the interfaces, tell us what your jurisdiction needs, and argue with the design.

What "open" means here, and what it doesn't

Means: the record core, the receipt/verifier mechanism, and the jurisdiction-pack interfaces are intended to ship under a public-sector / low-income-country license once counsel decides its terms. Reading the specs, filing a field report, and discussing the design are open right now.

Doesn't mean: a finished product, a chosen licence, a public source repository, or a codebase you can install today. The commercial platform described on the rest of this site is not a separate offering built alongside this spine — it's the same blueHealthcare platform, the same mark with more tiles unlocked, priced and licensed differently by country.

Why not wait until it's finished

Because the people best placed to tell us what a Ghanaian, German, or Saudi deployment actually needs are not us. Publishing the interface and inviting a field report costs nothing and starts that conversation years before a shipped community edition otherwise would.

blueOpenHealthcare is the free edition of blueHealthcare, MOBLUEHQ's clinical assurance platform — not a separate product.
